Reasi, April 11, 2026: In a significant development, senior Congress leaders were stopped by police authorities on Saturday while proceeding towards Shiv Khori shrine at Ransoo in Reasi district.
According to details, former MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, along with Bharat Priye, Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Kissan Congress, District Congress Committee (DCC) Reasi President Adv. Ajay Salalia, Block President Pouni Suraj Ram, Chairman Kissan Cell Reasi Kamal Singh, and several party workers were en route to Ransoo to hold a meeting with Congress workers and volunteers.

Reports said that Bharat Priye, who was travelling from Jammu to join the delegation, was stopped by police at Bhambla and was not allowed to enter Reasi district.
The delegation intended to interact with grassroots workers and discuss issues related to the Shiv Khori shrine, particularly concerns affecting pilgrims, local stakeholders, ponywalas, and service providers.
Despite informing authorities that the visit was peaceful and organizational in nature, the leaders were prevented from moving ahead. The Congress leaders expressed strong resentment over the action, calling it “undemocratic and unnecessary.”
Speaking on the occasion, Mumtaz Ahmed Khan said the purpose of the visit was to assess ground realities and understand issues related to shrine management and local livelihoods.
DCC President Adv. Ajay Salalia also condemned the police action, stating that such restrictions hinder democratic engagement and dialogue. He reiterated that the Congress party remains committed to raising genuine public concerns.
The leaders urged the administration to adopt a more cooperative approach and allow democratic participation without unwarranted restrictions.
